    Ok I took a swing at fleshing out the process of Dammit Binding.

    Thoughts???

    I think it may be a bit too complicated, for expending an Edge it should be possibly have a less of a negative modifier in the last step of the Dammit Binding. The TN could also be reduced to 4 to keep it on par with other skills, with a negative modifier for using substandard equipment.

    I see a lot of potential though, it is good to have a known list of time and expenses for Dammit Binding, and it is good to have modifiers for where the Dammits are to be found.

    I think the Edge is too all encompassing.
    The proposed system only has:

    1. A roll to Craft whatever is having a Dammit bound to it.
    2. A roll to successfully cast the spell to summon them
    3. A roll to see how many show up
    4. A roll to bind them to the item.

    And keep in mind only the last three happen during the actual binding.

    1. Cast a spell
    2. See how many come
    3. Wrassle um into the hammer (or stove or whatever)

    The two biggest issues I see are

    1.) Can you spend 5+ to get rid of the negative modifier on the summoning roll, and can you spend more PP to gain a positive modifier to the summoning?

    2.) Gaining a free skill when you take the edge. When I created Zlozz, he is a dementalist, but he doesn’t gain the dementalist skill for free. If you decide to keep the free skill you may want to change the wording of the last sentence to something like:
    When the Dammit Binder Edge is chosen they gain an this skill at d4. (I had to read the other version a few times to make it clear in my mind that you weren’t rolling d4 and taking that many skill levels in the new skill.)

    You don’t WANT a positive modifier to the summoning. Keep in mind the summoning is the NUMBER of Dammits who show up, not your chance of success. You score high you are knee deep in Dammits and you binding can work on ONE of them. The rest are going to attack you!

    The idea is to try and get just one to show up :D.

    BETA! THIS IS BETA! ok Really ALPHA! I just thought the original edge was TOO easy and didn’t explain how you found the dammit and no rolls necessary – Pay x number of clams and spend 1d4 days building it an you have a dammit cannon.

    Ok, thank you for clearing up the first issue, I agree a crafting roll would be needed to make the item, can the crafting and binding be put into the same roll? Remove the need for the new skill, and call it a crafting (dammit forging) since crafting needs to be specified anyways, the same way knowledges do.

    I think i will need to walk a character through the process a few times to give better additional feedback.

    Agreed (Walking through) – I just find the whole Dammit Binding thing intriguing and wanted to make it more…. interesting in game then just Oh ok here is my cash I make a Dammit Sled.

    My concern with combining the rolls is first they don’t happen at the same time – it takes 1d4 days to make the object and they don’t necessarily have to be continuous. So if you did one roll when you finished the item, you would know ahead of time you were successful binding the little bugger 😀 Where is the challenge in that!

    Secondly I pictured Dammit Device Artisans – so if you don’t have time, you could buy the vessel someone else made.

    I wanted players to get perhaps a little sense of accomplishment creating one – Like old school artifacts, or crafting your lightsabre.

    So perhaps its not as easy as it could be, but is that a bad thing?

    I did just think of a compromise – how about get rid of the Dammit binding skill and make an arcane roll on the master Arcane skill of whatever branch the crafter is (Hokus Poker, Weirdo or Contanimator)? That gets rid of the extra skill and associated nonsense – for a single use.
