Here’s a question: Currently, purchases through MOC do not earn clams. Is there a particular reason for this? And if not, is it possible to make this a thing? Just think how many sacks of those little slug-like creatures you’d sell…
I don’t really see a reason to get clams for spending moneys. All you have to do is sign on each day and you get one, and if you reply to posts on the forum constantly you get more clams for that. I think it is a way to A) keep us looking at MOC everyday (at least once a day) and B) try to keep us active interacting with the other Oithlings, or when there isn’t anything you want to reply to, come up with something you want to talk about, and start your own threads.
Actually, I do like the idea of earning clams for buying things in the shop. I don’t want a situation to arise in which the wealthiest person earns the top Oithling spot simply because they paid for it, but on the other hand, anything that encourages peeps to buy my jazz certainly helps. Since you’ll be able to earn gift certificates with clams pretty soon it would probably work out well for all of us. More purchases means more clams, which means more discounts, which means more sales and less cost for the buyer. Everybody wins, potentially.
So with the gift certificates and stuff like that, will we actually be using our clams and reducing our clam totals, or will this be a situation where as you get more clams you qualify for bigger rewards?
No, it would be like (for example) when you reach 1000 clams you get a code for $10 off in the store. You don’t trade in your clams and you get another code at another milestone. Something like that. I haven’t figured out all the levels yet.
